“Hello! I’m Carlos Marquez, coming to you from the heart of the Niagara Region, your top pick for capturing the magic of weddings, corporate events, and so much more. With a rich history of 27 years decorated with awards, my lens and I have celebrated an array of social events, surrounded by the charm of various cultures and the stunning scenery of locations in Niagara and across the globe. Photography for me goes well beyond wedding ceremonies because I’m deeply passionate about creating stunning portraits, diving into the worlds of fashion, family moments, intimate boudoir, refined fine art, the energetic expressions of dance, real estate and corporate photography. Thanks to my Advance Drone Pilot License and skills certified by Transport Canada, I offer a distinctive viewpoint for all your needs, securely backed by full corporate insurance for all your projects. The genesis of Carlos Marquez’s love affair with photography is a tale etched in the timeless grains of Ilford XP-2 Super black and white film. As a young boy in the bustling streets of Niagara Falls, Carlos transformed the humble earnings from his paper route into the seeds of his future. He nurtured his passion with a point-and-shoot Kodak camera, a purchase that marked the first shutter click of his lifelong journey behind the lens.
With each paper delivered, his dream fund grew, culminating in the acquisition of his first professional gear, from Rick, the owner of The Camera Store on Queens Street in Niagara Falls —a 3 head lighting kit, complete with umbrellas, a canvas, and a seamless paper backdrop. Week after Week, he was glued to the television, absorbing the world of high fashion through the lens of Fashion Television, a program that became his window into an elegant universe of style and sophistication, broadcast from CITY-TV Toronto into his inspired heart.
High school brought a pivotal alliance with Mr. Fred Bilanzola, an art teacher at St. Paul secondary who recognized the spark in Carlos. In the quiet after the final bell, the school dark room became their sanctuary, a place of learning and exploration. Under Mr. Bilanzola’s tutelage, Carlos mastered the alchemy of the dark room—developing his captures, learning the delicate dance of shadows and light that only black and white film could teach.
Carlos’s burgeoning skill and relentless drive soon had him offering his burgeoning talent to anyone willing to step in front of his camera. From candid shots to posed portraits, he seized every chance to refine his craft. His dedication bore fruit, building a portfolio that caught the eye of Jostens Canada, the company was primarily known for its production of yearbooks and class rings for various high schools and colleges as well as championship rings for sports. There, Carlos honed his skill in the art of school photography, capturing the smiles and hopes of countless students in the Niagara Region.
In a heartwarming full circle, Carlos returned to St. Paul, not as a student, but as the photographer capturing milestones for the next generation, photographing year book photos and graduation portraits. Yet, the spirit of Modern Vision Photography Inc. was stirring within him. After many years with Jostens, Carlos was ready to weave all the threads of his experiences into his own tapestry. Modern Vision Photography Inc. is more than a company—it’s a culmination of early mornings on paper routes, lessons in the dark room, and every click of the shutter along the way. It stands as a testament to a dream that developed from the contrast of black and white into the full spectrum of life’s vibrant moments.
